I had the privilege of assisting Fiyabomb, also known as Olivia Be' Nguyen, in two of her kids’ art classes hosted at Gallery 66 in New Britain, CT. The children had a wonderful time participating in Ms. Olivia’s painting lessons. Using water-based acrylics on primed canvases, each child was guided step by step with patience and encouragement. Ms. Olivia made sure every student felt confident in their ability to finish a painting, whether or not they had painted before. Even with a wide range of artistic experience, all of the kids were able to create their own artwork while having fun.
According to Olivia’s website, Olivia Be’ Nguyen, also known as Fiyabomb, is a 34-year-old Vietnamese self-taught surrealist artist born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. Known for her bold use of color and consistent style, Nguyen has made her mark in the art world by selling her work and hosting unique gallery shows. As an artistic feminist, she uses both her paintings and her voice—through social media and in-person engagements—to educate and empower women, gaining the support of audiences nationwide.
Olivia is an exceptionally talented artist with a wonderful personality. She has a unique gift for teaching, not only guiding her students but also inspiring creativity in everyone who joins her class. As Olivia often says, it does not matter if you have painted before or not. Anyone can learn art and discover their creativity at any age. Working with her during the summer art classes has been an absolute joy. Be sure to follow her on social media and explore her artwork. Her pieces are truly remarkable and deserve to be seen.
She does host her own painting classes for all ages, so be sure to register when they open because the spots can fill up pretty quickly!
